First published in 1954, Sports Illustrated began its swimsuit issue as a small section in their regular issue. Ten years later, in 1964, Sports Illustrated launched the first ever Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. The cover of this issue featured Babette March from Germany and was dated January 20th 1964.
Over the years, the popularity of these issues has grown and Sport Illustrated now prints a yearly bikini calendar. Each year, a different model claims the cover of Sports Illustrated’s bikini calendar and listed below are the last models to appear in the upcoming 2014 calendar.
Cover Model - Kate Upton
First making her appearance in Sports Illustrated in 2010, Kate Upton was also Sport Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue cover model in 2012 and 2013. Kate Upton is an American model and actress and was born June 10th 1992 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Notably, Kate Upton also appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair’s 100th Anniversary magazine.
January Model - Genevieve Morton
Also making her Sports Illustrated debut in 2010, Genevieve Morton is a South African model who was born in 1986. She was also featured in Sports Illustrated’s 2011, 2012, and 2013 Swimsuit Issues. Genevieve Morton also appeared on Esquire online and has modeled for Cover Girl.
February Model - Kate Bock
Born in Vancouver, Canada, Kate Bock is a 22 year old Sports Illustrated rookie. She was featured on the cover of Canada’s Glow Magazine in May of 2010 and Italy’s Grazia Magazine in 2006. Currently, Kate Bock works for the Elite Model Management Agency of New York. Kate Bock is signed to the Liz Bell Modeling Agency.
March Model - Irina Shayk
Born January 6th of 1986 in Yemanzhelinsk, Russia, Irina Shayk has appeared in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue since 2007 and was their cover model for 2011’s issue. Irina Shayk also appeared on the cover of Annabelle, Bolero, Woman, Jalouse, and Paris Capital magazines and modeled for the following companies; Guess, Victoria’s Secret and Lacoste.
April Model - Ariel Meredith
An American model appearing in Sports Illustrated in 2009, 2012 and 2013, Ariel Meredith was born in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1986. In 2008, Ariel Meredith signed with Ford Models in New York and Elite Model Management in Milan and Paris. Ariel Meredith has also done modeling for the following companies; Baby Phat, Diesel, D & G, the Gap, Levi’s, Sephora, Vera Wang and Victoria’s Secret.
May Model - Alyssa Miller
From Los Angeles, California and born July 4th 1989, Alyssa Miller is an American fashion model. Alyssa Miller made her Sports Illustrated debut in 2011. Other work by Alyssa Miller include her appearance in Train’s Mermaid music video and an advocate against bullying and cyberbullying for STOMP Out Bullying.
June Model - Jessica Gomes
An Australian model born September 25th 1985, Jessica Gomes has appeared in Sports Illustrated since 2008. Alyssa is known for being the face of Estee Lauder and their fragrance by Sean John, “Unforgiveable.” Jessica Gomes also modeled for the following companies; DKNY Jeans, Levi’s, Motorola, Rocawear, Urban Outfitters and Victoria’s Secret.
July Model - Natasha Barnard
Born May 25th 1998 in Witbank Mpumalanga, South Africa, Natasha Barnard is represented by Outlaws Model Agency and was featured in Sports Illustrated’s 2011 Swimsuit Issue. Natasha Barnard was also on the cover of South Africa’s edition of FHM (For Him Magazine).
August Model - Cintia Dicker
Born in Campo Bom, Rio Grande do Sul on June 12th 1986, Cintia Dicker is a Brazilian model and was featured in each of Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issues since 2009. Cintia Dicker has also modeled for the following companies; American Eagle Outfitters, Ann Taylor, BeBe, Dolce and Gabbana, the Gap, Gucci, H & M, Tommy Hilfiger and Yves Saint Laurent.
September Model - Adaora Akubilo
A Nigerian American model, Adaora Akubilo was a contestant on NBC’s reality TV show Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Search. She was eliminated in week two but later appeared in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue in 2013.
October Model - Chrissy Teigen
Born December 30th, 1985 in Delta, Utah, Chrissy Teigen is an American model who made her Sports Illustrated debut in 2010. Other companies Chrissy Teigen has modeled for are as follows; Deal or No Deal, Gillette, Nike, Nine West, Olay and Skullcandy Headphones.
November Model - Jessica Perez
Born in Costa Rica, Jessica Perez also appeared in Sports Illustrated’s Swimsuit Issue in 2012. Jessica Perez is signed to the following agencies; Mega Model Agency in Hamburg and Berlin, Munich Models, Trump Model Management, Joy Model Management (Milan), UNO Models (Barcelona and Madrid) and M Management (Paris).
December Model - Kate Upton
This year’s cover model, Kate Upton, also claims the calendar’s December portrait. Photographed by Derek Kettela, Kate Upton is pictured wearing a white string bikini in a snowy, mountain scene. Kate Upton has also modeled for the following companies; Dooney & Bourke, Garage and Guess.
