Bobby Shmurda Charged For Smuggling Prison Contraband

July 2024 · 2 minute read

Bobby Shmurda landed in even hotter water – about a week ago.

On June 21, Shmurda, legal name Ackquille Pollard, got a visit from his girlfriend at Rikers Island, who brought an unauthorized—gift of sorts—that slapped another charge on the Brooklyn rapper. According to a criminal complaint, a guard saw Shmurda’s girlfriend, Kimberly Rousseau, pull an electrical tape-wrapped black latex glove balloon from her bra. A prison guard opened the wrapping to find a “sharpened metal object,” according to the New York Daily News.

Though he is currently upholding a non-guilty plea for all charges including this latest sting, Rousseau and Shmurda are both being charged with promoting contraband. The contraband incident will be Shmurda’s second prison mix-up following an April jailhouse brawl where he reportedly fought amongst four other crips against two blood gang members.

Shmurda is currently being held on $2 million bail for indictments that encompass weapon charges, reckless endangerment, second-degree conspiracy to commit murder and other allegations. To help satisfy the pricey bail, his mother also created a GoFundMe campaign which appears to have been deleted.

Shmurda’s upcoming trial is set for October 2015. Meanwhile, his lady Rousseau pleaded guilty to the contraband charge and will appear in court next month. The 20-year-old emcee faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted on all charges.

Until then, let’s hope this is the last of charges Bobby racks up while he’s behind bars.
